Some journeys shape us in ways we never expect. My time at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding (CJP) at Eastern Mennonite University wasn’t just about earning a Master’s in Conflict Transformation—it was about learning to see myself, my story, and the world through a new lens.
At CJP, I deepened my understanding of justice, reconciliation, and peacebuilding, but I also had to confront my own internal conflicts—the ways I had silenced my voice, the wounds I had carried, and the spaces where I needed healing. It was there that I learned that transformation isn’t just something we work toward in the world—it’s something that happens within us first.
From Conflict to Calling
For years, I poured myself into work that served others, navigating grants, program development, leadership, and advocacy. But somewhere along the way, I abandoned the part of me that loved to write. That felt called to tell stories. That found healing through words.
Life wrecked me in ways I never anticipated—through personal struggles, loss, and difficult transitions. But wrecked does not mean forsaken. Just as CJP taught me that peace is possible even in broken systems, I’ve come to see that restoration is possible even in broken lives.
The Blog: A New Chapter of Transformation
That’s why I’m launching Wrecked but Not Forsaken—a space where I reclaim my voice. Where I write not for approval, but for healing. Where I share my journey of faith, resilience, identity, and motherhood with the hope that it encourages others who have felt lost, abandoned, or uncertain about their path.
Just as my studies in conflict transformation taught me that healing comes through truth-telling, this blog is my way of living that truth.
If you’ve ever struggled with redefining yourself, reclaiming your voice, or believing in new beginnings, this space is for you.

And tell me—what’s a moment in your life that wrecked you but led to transformation? I’d love to hear your story.
